a dystopic novel was written by george orwell. it is not that hard to make connections between today and the time when the book was written. even though the name of it is 1984, the book was first published in 1949. that is a great indication of the foresight of the author, that is to say he could predict the future from that time. after reading it, you will see what would happen if dictatorial regimes reinforce their power by using technology.

some fav quotes:
--spoiler--
who controls the past controls the future.
who controls the present controls the past.

doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them:
war is peace.
freedom is slavery.
ignorance is strength.

big brother is watching you.

freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. if that is granted, all else follows.

we do not merely destroy our enemies; we change them.
