sometimes it was technical mastery and beauty. sometimes originality. sometimes emotional power, symbolism, or the ability to challenge the way people see the world.

good art does not necessarily have to be beautiful or even pleasant. it usually gives you a reason to keep looking, thinking, feeling, or arguing about it after you have seen it.

art is what happens when a person takes something that only existed inside them and gives it a form other people can experience.

a painting, a song, a building, a film, even an empty room can become art if it makes us notice, feel, or question something we probably would have ignored otherwise.
