this is a state by state look at the republican and democratic candidates in every state holding a u.s. senate election in 2026, including the special elections in florida and ohio.
positions are based on candidates' own statements, congressional records, campaign platforms, interviews and reliable reporting available as of september 21, 2026. when a candidate has not publicly taken a clear position, it says that rather than assuming one based on party affiliation.
three states currently do not have a democratic senate nominee on the november ballot: idaho, nebraska and south dakota. in those cases, that is noted instead of incorrectly labeling an independent candidate as a democrat.
