whoever orchestrated what happened in ceuta, if it was coordinated at all, achieved a significant political impact.

the images spread rapidly across europe and even the united states. in my view, none of this would have happened without at least some level of cooperation or acquiescence from moroccan authorities.

the result was politically effective. it put pressure on spain, fueled public frustration across europe, and reinforced the narrative among many audiences in the united states that european migration policies are failing.

to me, it looks less like a spontaneous event and more like a political operation.

what i also find interesting is that, although ceuta is spanish territory, it is not an existential threat to the european union as a whole. yet several statements critical of spain have emerged from abroad, including from figures in the united states and israel, giving the impression that criticism of the spanish government has converged from multiple directions.
