i "sold my soul" and added product analytics across all my projects after all. sorry bro but i need to sell.
however i am collecting data as "respectfully" as possible:
- data doesn't go to an analytics vendor. i'm self-hosting (openpanel, my own server)
- no accounts, names, emails or ad ids. apps send only a fixed list of events like "paywall opened", never free text.
- no tracking cookies
- anonymous install ids
analytics are definitely helpful for an indie dev.
i was naive before.
