garbage

megan fox became one of the biggest sex symbols of the 2000s, but a lot of her career was also shaped by how intensely the media focused on her looks.

that’s what makes her interesting beyond the movies. she’s a good example of how hollywood can turn someone into an image first and a person second.

being famous for being beautiful can open doors, but it can also become the box people refuse to let you leave.

the polls must be rough if the midterm pitch is now $5,000 for every adult.

your cart is not a roadblock.

a good example is the 2016 brexit campaign bus that said the uk sent the eu £350 million a week and suggested that money could instead fund the nhs. the figure ignored the uk rebate and eu spending that came back to the uk, and the uk statistics authority later called it a clear misuse of official statistics. yet the slogan had already done its job because it was simple, emotional, visual, and easy to remember.

that is what makes post truth interesting to me. the strongest claim is not always the most accurate one. sometimes it is simply the one that gives people the clearest story to believe.

i’m still not sure if i want one, but this is probably the most interesting iphone apple has made in years.

apple was obviously very late to foldables, so the interesting part was never going to be “look, it folds.” samsung and others have been doing that for years.

what interests me more is what happens when apple finally decides a category is mature enough to enter. the duo opens into roughly a 7.6 inch screen, supports side by side apps and apple pencil, but still folds back into something phone sized. it also starts at $1,999, so this is definitely not apple trying to make foldables normal overnight.

it feels less like a new iphone shape and more like apple testing whether the line between an iphone and an ipad even needs to exist anymore.

even with the best software in the world, a decent midrange camera will still take better photos than any phone you can fit in your pocket.

sensor size, lens size, optics, light gathering ability, all of that matters. software can compensate for a lot, but it cannot repeal physics.

the same thing applies to foldable phones. if a display is being bent over and over again, there is no realistic way for that section to remain completely unaffected forever.

folding the same screen hundreds of thousands of times in a controlled lab and saying, "see, no crease, problem solved," does not mean much in real life. people drop phones, sit on them, expose them to heat, cold, dust, pressure, uneven folds, and a thousand other variables that do not exist in a durability test.

and i say all of this as someone who does not even use an iphone.

the reason this stuff annoys me is that there are only a handful of companies on earth with basically unlimited research and development budgets.

instead of spending all that money figuring out how to make a phone fold in half, maybe improve battery technology enough that i can charge my phone once and use it for several days.

but apparently that is not flashy enough.

the new phone has to look obviously new when someone takes a mirror selfie with it.

how us donor bodies were sold for israeli military training

i have a running habit of constantly sending my brother monkey videos, preferably ones of baby monkeys happily stuffing their faces while they eat.

whoever orchestrated what happened in ceuta, if it was coordinated at all, achieved a significant political impact.

the images spread rapidly across europe and even the united states. in my view, none of this would have happened without at least some level of cooperation or acquiescence from moroccan authorities.

the result was politically effective. it put pressure on spain, fueled public frustration across europe, and reinforced the narrative among many audiences in the united states that european migration policies are failing.

to me, it looks less like a spontaneous event and more like a political operation.

what i also find interesting is that, although ceuta is spanish territory, it is not an existential threat to the european union as a whole. yet several statements critical of spain have emerged from abroad, including from figures in the united states and israel, giving the impression that criticism of the spanish government has converged from multiple directions.

the reason this show is so widely disliked isn't that it strays from the lore, nor is it because the cast is ethnically diverse.

the real problem is that it's lazily written.

the characters rarely feel like real people you can connect with, and so many plot points are introduced as if they're incredibly important, only to be casually discarded a scene or two later. it's hard to stay invested when the story itself doesn't seem to care about its own setup.

the most overrated player of the 2026 fifa world cup. he's done more harm than good for spain this tournament.

food that makes my brain practically dance while i'm eating it. turns out it's no coincidence i say that. once you learn the real story you'll agree with me, folks. let me explain the neurological festival going on in the background, in my own way, here you go:

the fish and soy sauce in sushi are packed to the brim with glutamate (a kind of natural msg). the second this stuff binds to your taste receptors, a signal goes to the brain saying "an excellent source of protein and amino acids." to reward this evolutionary success, the brain releases dopamine (the pleasure/reward hormone) from the ventral tegmental area.

what doesn't kill you inevitably leaves a mark on you, and that mark makes you live your past traumas over and over again.

there was one type of football he hadn't gotten his hands on, and by getting his hands on that too he's screwed up both football and an institution like fifa.

first, the idea of water breaks during matches may have come out of him. he definitely forced this on fifa, otherwise nobody in their right mind would do something this ridiculous and this widely criticized.

second, getting the suspension for the red card an american player received postponed, and the comment he made about it, is complete nonsense. people want to watch a fair game and tournament, but he's meddling in it, and he's doing it by using a worldwide institution like fifa as his tool.

third, the disgrace of a referee who came for the world cup not being let into the country. this alone is a scandal. it showed just how weak and helpless an institution fifa is.

fourth, the treatment of the iran national football team. their players were even interrogated for hours. on top of that, the injustices the referees did to them in the group matches are plain to see. he has a direct or indirect hand in this and many other things like it. he ruins everything he touches.

the black plague of today's world. the instagram stories feature quietly, without any fuss, changed all of humanity from the ground up in 2016. think back carefully: the friendships you'd made up until that day, the things you went through with your partner, everything started coming back at you in different versions after that day. today your mom, your dad, or your closest friend is gone, and their digital versions have taken their place. for a full 10 years now we've been waking up inside a horrific nightmare. this perception of the better, the most correct, the all-or-nothing keeps flexing. everyone, whether they know anything or not, is an expert on every subject. 30-second stories screwed all of humanity over. you go to a concert, you have a kid, you're a parent in your happiest moment, but none of it gives as much pleasure as that share button. all of humanity's iq is in the gutter.
